Almost every VPN expert believes NordVPN and ExpressVPN are two of the best providers in the industry. They both offer advanced security. Their speeds are great and customer support is professional. But which is better?

Strict Privacy Policies ExpressVPN functions away from the 5/9/14 eye alliances that demand software companies keep users’ logs. It’s based in the British Virgin Islands, a country with great respect for users’ privacy.

Similar to ExpressVPN, NordVPN keeps zero logs. The company is based in Panama, a safe jurisdiction when it comes to privacy. Although the two companies don’t keep logs about your IP address and content surfed, they keep may take some details to improve service delivery.

ExpressVPN indicates your server location choice and bandwidth used per sessions. They also take note of your login date and the VPN app you chose. That’s all safe since the data can’t be used to compromise your security in any way.

Security

The two VPN providers use the very best security methods to keep users safe. NordVPN encrypts your data twice before connecting you to the Internet. Instead of linking you through one server and then connecting you to the Internet, NordVPN uses two servers for added protection.

With both companies, military-grade protection is used for security. Your data is encrypted using AES 256 bit as it leaves your PC for the Internet. To secure your Internet traffic, both companies use additional encryption techniques such as UKEv2/IPsec.

Both companies also use OpenVPN protocol to tunnel your connections. The data tunneling method works great for p2p file sharing and online gaming as you are kept secure. The VPN providers also block malware and adware. Additional security features include a kill-switch that shields your Internet traffic should your connection be disrupted. Overall, your IP address, DNS and data are safe when you use either company.

Speed

Performance is one of the only areas NordVPN and ExpressVPN differ. While they both record excellent connections, the British Virgin Islands-based company is faster. The Panama-based provider is most efficient in the US but connects at extremely slow speeds in Asia and other

regions outside of Europe. Still, NordVPN’s slowest speeds are faster than what many other VPNs out there provide.

If it comes down to speed and you have NordVPN and ExpressVPN to choose from, ExpressVPN is the better option. Its download speeds in the US and the UK top 90MBps, while in Asia you can get a decent 30MBps. The Panama-based provider peaks at about 70MBps for downloads, which is still fast and efficient for any purposes.

Numerous Servers around the World

When it comes to the availability of servers, no company comes close to NordVPN. With 5000+ servers in 62 countries, the provider offers the best convenience. You can choose between servers, set favorites or connect with the most ideal p2p servers.

ExpressVPN also has more servers than you will need. With 2000+ servers in 94 countries, you can connect safely from any part of the world. For NordVPN, the server locations are indicated through push icons on a world map. You can connect with any server and if you choose to, doubled up with two servers.

Available in Multiple Devices

Some VPNs only work on Windows but not on MAC. Some are available on Android and absent on iOS. NordVPN and ExpressVPN serve all major devices. You can get a browser extension or use a web app. Install the provider on your mobile device or router. With either company, there is no device you can’t connect. If you have multiple devices, however, you may have to make a tough choice. ExpressVPN supports a maximum of three devices. NordVPN supports six. The only other difference between the two vendors is their pricing and speeds. If you want great value for money, the Panama-based provider is the best option. If speed matters more, ExpressVPN will be your best choice.

Accessing Netflix and YouTube

If you can’t access Netflix or YouTube due to geographical restrictions, use ExpressVPN or NordVPN. By connecting you to foreign servers and new IP addresses, VPNs help you unblock content you couldn’t normally.

YouTube is easy to connect for many VPNs but Netflix and BBC iPlayer can be tough to crack. Both NordVPN and ExpressVPN unblock all the major streaming services with ease worldwide. Only in China is NordVPN unable to unblock Netflix, in which case you can rely on ExpressVPN.

Torrents

While many companies shy away from supporting p2p file sharing, NordVPN and ExpressVPN support torrenting unequivocally. The Panama-based provider offers hundreds of p2p friendly servers for convenience. With peer to peer support, you can download all sorts of files safely. Usually, torrenting is illegal in many countries. Using a torrent site can get you into jail. But with a secure VPN, you are safe. Your IP address is shielded from other torrent users, meaning you can’t be tracked down by any means.

24/7 Customer Support

In an industry accused of mistreating customers, ExpressVPN and NordVPN stand out in their professional assistance services. Through live chat features and email support, you get a reply from either company immediately. Whether it’s a question or a technical issue that need fixing, the companies handle customers’ requests instantly.

Tor Support

The Tor browser encrypts your data into multiple servers. When convinced with a VPN’s protection, it’s impossible to track you. Both ExpressVPN and NordVPN support the browser. Tor is great in countries where VPNs are illegal and Internet censorship is rampant.

Value for Money

Although there are cheaper VPNs out there, none offer better services than either Nord or Express. Between the two industry leaders, NordVPN is cheaper. At a price of $83.88 for a 1-year plan, you save $12 compared to when you buy ExpressVPN’s $99.95 1-year plan. When paid per month, NordVPN is $1 cheaper at $11.95.

To Conclude

Most industry leaders agree that both NordVPN and ExpressVPN are great providers. The two rank at the very top in securing connections, speed and customer support. With 2000+ servers each, you can connect the Internet from all continents. You can unblock Netflix, download p2p files and watch YouTube where it is illegal.

The only difference between the companies is speed and pricing. However, no matter which provider you choose between the two, you are guaranteed great services.

2 thoughts on “NordVPN and ExpressVPN – what makes them the most Popular?”

  1. I have both Nordvpn and Express subscriptions, and can honestly agree that they both are excellent providers. I think if you go either way – you won’t be disappointed as they offer secure services with stable connections and do what they claim publicly (different from some other providers on the market). Anyway, I feel like I tend to use Nord more. It’s cheaper, I like their app interface and how easy to use it is… Maybe it’s time to let Express account go, will see.

  2. Initially I was a user of express vpn but they are quite expensive so i switched to nord, then after their issue with their parent company, I bought purevpn
